Contact Point for UKCA Technical File
and UK Declaration of Conformity
UK Contact helps manufacturers based outside Great Britain to meet the legal obligations listed under The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and The Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations 2016.
The UKCA Mark is valid within the UK, but can only be issued in England, Scotland or Wales.
On contracting this product, our name and address in the United Kingdom (UK) may be used in your UK Declarations of Conformity or UK Declarations of Incorporation.
We believe that some industry-related knowledge must be in place in order to analyse the information received as part of the technical file. This is why we will ONLY host technical files for manufacturers and system integrators providing products for the Entertainment Industry.
UK – EU TRADE DEAL GRACE PERIOD: The United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU) reached a trade deal with a grace period for “CE Marking” ending on 31 December 2021.
Equipment and machinery placed in the UK market before 1 January 2022 can have a Declaration of Incorporation or a Declaration of Conformity and a CE mark with an address in the EU. From 1 January 2022, all products placed in the UK must contain a UKCA mark and UK Declarations of Conformity or UK Declarations of Incorporation should have an address within Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). Note that machinery placed after 1 January 2022 in Northern Ireland can still have a CE mark with an EU address.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
STEP 1: As the manufacturer, you will provide us with a written mandate to perform part of the obligations and formalities imposed by the UK Regulations on manufacturers, in particular, the ones related to the contact point in the UK.
STEP 2: Via a web link, we will make available a secure drop point to upload the technical file.
STEP 3: We will perform an initial analysis of the received documentation. In order for the file to be accepted, a minimum group of basic files should be present in the technical file, such as the construction technical documentation, a risk assessment and the compliance report (The Supply of Machinery (Safety), Electrical Safety or EMC Regulations).
STEP 4: After the documentation analysis is completed, our address and name may be used as the contact point in the UK Declaration of Conformity or UK Declaration of Incorporation for all the machinery or equipment referred to in your technical file.
STEP 5: Under the compliance report submitted in step 3, you may issue a UK Declaration of Conformity or a UK Declaration of Incorporation with us listed as the legal person established in the UK that is authorised to compile the technical file. As a result, you — as the manufacturer — may also apply a UKCA marking to your product.
STEP 6: All the UK Declarations of Conformity or UK Declarations of Incorporation using our contact details must be forwarded to us. These documents are considered to be a part of the technical file.
